Stop Blaming the Seed — It’s the Soil That’s Been Poisoned Published by: DovesHelp.com | Truth. Healing. Empowerment. To My People — We are often told to “do better,” “work harder,” or “stop making excuses.” But let me ask you something: how can a seed grow in poisoned soil? We’re blamed for our wounds, but rarely is the knife discussed. We’re blamed for struggling, but not for surviving systems built to break us. All around us are narratives that imply we — Black people, Indigenous people, descendants of stolen labor and stolen land — are inherently the problem. Meanwhile, the system that made the conditions gets a pass. You Have a Choice: You can believe the lie that Black people are the problem — — or — You can choose to see the real obstacles we’ve been navigating for generations. They Call It an Excuse. We Call It the Truth. Here are a few truths that are too often dismissed: Mass incarceration broke our families and funded private prisons. Redlining stole homeownership and generational wealth. Underfunded schools taught us less and blamed us for the gaps. Job discrimination shut doors before we ever knocked. Health disparities buried us earlier and ignored our pain. Media stereotypes criminalized us while stealing our culture. When We Speak Up, They Say: “You’re just playing the race card.” “That was in the past — get over it.” “Other groups made it — what’s your excuse?” “You just need a better attitude.” “Stop dividing us by talking about race.” But here’s the truth: We’re not lazy — we’re surviving systems. We’re not making excuses — we’re naming the truth. We don’t want pity — we want equity. We’re not silent — we’re strategic. We’re not victims — we are vigilant. What DovesHelp Believes: We believe in healing without hiding the truth. We believe in building while being honest about the barriers. We believe in late bloomers, underdogs, and comeback stories. So no — we’re not here to make excuses. We’re here to expose injustice, empower our people, and build systems that work for us all. Let the world call it what they want. At DovesHelp, we call it truth, and we call it purpose. DovesHelp.com Justice. Healing. Empowerment.
